Nice charger, would be nice if it charges faster Jul 13, 2010 Nice build, compact, nice design, I would rate it 5 stars if it charges faster. recomended
Works as it should Jul 07, 2010 I bought this because my original charger would not charge. This one worked even though the charge level of the batteries was below "threshold".
Intuitive and safe for all batteries Jun 14, 2010 Not sure why every manufacturer uses their own light scheme to indicate the state of the battery and when it is fully charged. Wish they would copy the simple light setup of Milwaukee where the light is red when it is charging and turns to green when it is fully charged. Don't need to read the manual to figure it out.
Charge time is one hour and I prefer that to the so called quick chargers. Heat kills batteries and my top rated Maha NiMh battery charger has two charge modes and the slow mode takes 2 hours. Unless I am in a hurry the slow mode is what I use to get as long a battery life as possible. With $100 lithium-ion batteries quick charging is really foolish. The faster it charges the hotter the battery gets and the longer it takes to cool down so the net gain is trivial.
The Milwaukee charger handles both my old NiCad drill batteries and my newer Lithium-ion ones so I take only one charger to a job and all my drills are covered. Would be even nicer if the Milwaukee drills could use either type of battery like the DeWalt drills but that is another story.
I get the longest battery life by using my drills at the best speed range setting unlike guys I see leaving the drill in the high RPM range all day long and then wonder why they can't get very many holes from a battery charge or why their drills break down after less than a year of use. I also use high efficiency hole cutters - the big gullet guys from Milwaukee and Blue Boar. If I cut a hole in 5 seconds instead of 60 seconds, guess how much longer my battery lasts.
Well worth the upgrade! Jun 02, 2010 I live on a solar system. My older chargers for the NiCd batteries don't work with a Modified sign wave (what I get from the inverter). After a few rounds of emails with Milwaukee I found out that this charger will work on a Modified sign wave. Not only has it been working but it referbished two batteries that were not working. One has not worked in over a year but now will take a charge (does not hold it though), and the other was compleatly dead because a drill bit had crossed the possitive and negative terminals. After cuting away a little bit of melted plastic and using this charger on it, the battery has been working fine for a month.
Works as expected May 22, 2010 I bought this battery and charger to complete a number of bare tools I purchased. I ***think*** I saved money! All work as expected.
